Did you know that figures show over 1.3M three-day emergency food supplies have been delivered to people in crisis in past year – a 13 per cent increase on last year, compared with rise of 6 per cent the year before. In this day and age, it’s hard to believe that there is still such a demand for this level of support, and it’s an issue that local charity ‘Hospitality & Hope’ are well aware of.
We were happy to be on call on a cold and wet Friday night to support the charity with the collection and delivery of the food that was kindly donated by Newcastle concert goers. Following a request from Indie Band ‘Little Comets’ who asked their fans to consider donating some much-needed goods when attending their gig in Newcastle and their wish for it to be donated in support of a local charity, we all pulled together in support.
Thanks to Paul Oliver (CEO at Hospitality & Hope) for allowing us to support the cause, and thanks to Jason our engineer who gave up his Friday night to assist. Many hands make light work, and this will hopefully be the start of many things to come for UK Lift and Escalator with community involvement.
